AI dispatch software went from an idea to an agent calling brokers and helping negotiate load opportunities fast. The problem is they all call themselves "AI dispatchers" and mean different things. One calls the broker and hands you the phone. One emails and waits on a reply. One just updates your load board. Nobody tells you which fits your operation, and what works for ten trucks is usually wrong for one.
So we did the work. This article compares four AI dispatch platforms—including TruckSmarter Dispatch, Numeo, DispatchMVP, and FleetWorks—on what they actually do, who they're built for, how they talk to brokers, how much control you have, and what they cost. Where a company doesn't publish something, we say so instead of guessing.
What Is the Best AI Dispatch Software for Trucking?
There's no single best AI dispatch software for trucking, because these four don't solve the same problem. One is built for a driver dispatching himself from the cab. One is built for a dispatch office with three DAT logins. One is really a TMS with a voice assistant on top. One works the phones for you. The question you should be asking is: "which is built for how I run?"
Here's what separates them:
What to compare | Why it matters |
|---|---|
Who it's built for | A one-truck operation and a 40-truck fleet need opposite things. |
Where the freight comes from | Its own load board, the board you already pay for, or a broker network. |
What the AI can do | Search, rank, calculate, negotiate, call, or just update records. |
Market and profit data | Does it tell you what the lane pays, or only what the load pays? |
Broker communication | Phone calls, email, or nothing at all. |
Human control | Whether you or the software books the load. |
Fleet and TMS features | Invoicing, ELD, IFTA, settlements. Useful for fleets, dead weight for one truck. |
Price | Per seat, per truck, per load, or a percentage of your revenue. |
We scored all four against the criteria in our AI Dispatch Software Buyer's Guide.

1. TruckSmarter Dispatch: Best for Owner Operators and Small Carriers
What TruckSmarter Dispatch does
TruckSmarter Dispatch is a chat-based AI dispatcher built for drivers who book their own freight. You ask the way you'd ask a dispatcher (in the language of your choice), and it goes and does the work.
What's in it:
Conversational load search — "Find me a reefer out of Fresno going east, minimum $2.50 a mile, under 100 miles deadhead."
Free load board access — Dispatch searches the TruckSmarter load board, which is free to use.
Gmail load search — Connect your inbox and it searches the broker emails already sitting there.
SONAR TRAC spot rates — Lane-level market benchmarks, the kind of data brokers and shippers have used for years.
Estimated take-home — What you actually clear, not the gross on the rate con.
Fuel and trip economics — Fuel prices and trip costs in the math.
Broker calling — Dispatch calls the broker, verifies the load, then transfers the call to you.
Load comparison — Line two or three loads up side by side.
Memories and preferences — It learns your equipment, what you won't haul, your rate floor, how far from home you'll run.
Backhaul and reload search — Find the load that gets you paid on the way home.
Alerts and reminders — Get pinged when something worth taking shows up.
Where TruckSmarter stands out
Most tools help you decide or help you act. Dispatch does both in one place: find the load, check the lane rate, run the take-home, get the broker on the phone, without switching apps.
What sets it apart:
Built for owner operators, not adapted down from fleet software.
It calls brokers and hands you the line. You get the conversation; you don't get put on hold to have it.
Estimated take-home, not just rate per mile. This includes fuel and toll fees.
SONAR TRAC rates included at no extra charge.
A free load board underneath it, so your freight source isn't another subscription.
$49/month flat. No percentage of any load.
Where TruckSmarter may not be the best fit
If you're running a bigger fleet and need a full TMS, Dispatch isn't that. It's built around finding and booking freight, not running an office. A 15-truck operation will still want a TMS alongside it.
TruckSmarter pricing
Plan | Pricing | What You Get |
|---|---|---|
Free | $0 | Limited Dispatch requests, MC/DOT verification required |
Dispatch Unlimited | $49/month | Unlimited requests from Dispatch |
Load board | Always free | Always free, no credit card, no subscription |
2. Numeo: Best for Existing Dispatch Teams
What Numeo does
Numeo sits on top of it of your load board. The core product is a Chrome extension plus a set of AI tools that live inside DAT and Truckstop.
The pieces:
Spot — The Chrome extension. Ranks loads by profit instead of post time, shows broker factoring status inline, calculates profit, RPM, and lowest-toll routing, and sends Load Radar alerts when a match posts.
Load Hub — Load management layered on the boards you already pay for, across 15+ sources.
AI Hub — The AI dispatcher. Watches every connected load board, ranks matches against your rules, and negotiates rates with brokers by email.
Numeo One — Their own TMS, priced per truck.
Numeo App — Mobile app for drivers and dispatchers.
AI Hub finds, ranks, negotiates, and pushes toward booking, with an approval gate you set.
Where Numeo stands out
Works with what you already have. Any DAT tier, any Truckstop subscription.
Built for dispatchers, not drivers. If you have people whose whole job is booking freight, the tooling fits.
AI email negotiation. It drafts and sends market-backed negotiation emails for you.
Three automation modes — manual (you approve every step), supervised (the default: it negotiates, you approve anything binding), autonomous (it acts inside your rules).
Rules that are actually specific — equipment, lane, RPM floor, deadhead tolerance, broker score, driver fit. It won't surface freight outside them.
Where Numeo may not be the best fit
Spot layers onto boards you already subscribe to, which means you're paying Numeo and DAT or Truckstop. For one truck, that stacks up fast. Another thing worth mentioning is that plain-English load search lives in AI Hub, which is the Ultra tier, not the free extension.
The bigger difference is how it talks to brokers: Numeo is email-only. It does not call broker, include a load-board chat, or SMS. Numeo used to offer AI broker calling and removed it from the product. Email works fine for a dispatcher juggling twelve threads at a desk. If you're the one driving and a broker needs an answer in ten minutes, email is the slow lane.
Numeo pricing
Spot — per dispatcher seat:
Plan | Billed Annually | Billed Monthly |
|---|---|---|
Free | $0 | $0 |
Pro | $9.99 per dispatcher per month | $14.99 |
Ultra (includes Load Hub & AI Hub) | $29.99 per dispatcher per month | $49.99 |
Numeo One TMS — per truck:
Plan | Monthly |
|---|---|
Basic | $10/truck |
Pro | $15/truck |
Enterprise (100+ trucks) | Custom pricing |
Pro comes with a 14-day trial. Ultra includes three months of Numeo One. Seat pricing and truck pricing are two different bills, and neither covers your load board subscription.
3. DispatchMVP: Best for Fleets That Want AI + TMS Features
What DispatchMVP does
DispatchMVP calls itself a voice-enabled, AI-powered dispatch and fleet management platform. It's a TMS with AI layered into the workflow, not a load-finding assistant.
What's in it:
Dispatch management — a full dispatch board
Otto, the voice assistant — "Status of L1043," "Auto dispatch load L-2045," "Replace Tom with Gary for D1041"
Auto-dispatch — assigns loads by location, availability, equipment, and HOS hours
AI document processing — reads BOLs, PODs, and rate cons and fills in your board
Automated check calls — Otto (AI agent) creates check call records when drivers are en route, arrived, or loading
Invoicing and driver settlements
Real-time GPS tracking — through your existing telematics
Driver app — iOS and Android, hands-free
ELD integrations — Samsara, Motive, Bridgestone Azuga
QuickBooks sync
IFTA reporting
It pulls loads from DAT, Truckstop, and other major boards into your dispatch board.
Where DispatchMVP stands out
Breadth. Dispatch, documents, invoicing, IFTA, ELD, and settlements in one system.
Voice interface. Otto handles dispatch tasks without typing, which matters when your hands are busy.
Real integrations. ELD and QuickBooks connections are the unglamorous stuff that saves actual hours.
Where DispatchMVP may not be the best fit
If you're one truck looking for spot freight, most of this platform isn't for you. IFTA reporting and driver settlements don't help you book tomorrow's load.
Two things to know before you compare it to a load-finding tool. DispatchMVP doesn't publish its own market rate or profitability analytics—rate data comes from the load boards you connect. It also doesn't claim to phone or negotiate with brokers for you, rather its "automated check calls" are system-generated status updates from the driver app and telematics, not calls it places on your behalf.
DispatchMVP pricing
Plan | Price | Trucks | Tenders | Extra Trucks |
|---|---|---|---|---|
Owner Operator | $49 per month | Up to 2 | 50 | $22 a month each |
Small Fleet | $99 per month | Up to 5 | 150 | $19 a month each |
Growing Fleet | $199 per month | Up to 10 | 400 | $15 a month each |
Large Fleet | $499 per month | Up to 50 | 2,000 | $12 a month each |
DispatchMVP advertises a 30-day free trial with no credit card needed to sign up. No contracts. Annual billing is discounted.
4. FleetWorks: Best for Carriers Who Want the Calling Done for Them
What FleetWorks does
FleetWorks runs a two-sided AI system. One agent works for brokers, finding the right truck for a load. The other works with carriers to learns their preferences, equipment, and availability, calls brokers, negotiates rates, and sends them load offers. In FleetWorks' words: "We do the calling. You pick the load." This tool offers automation on the phone work, but not a robot booking freight on your behalf.
It reaches you across voice, email, SMS, WhatsApp, Google Chat, and Telegram. FleetWorks announced its always-on AI dispatcher alongside a $17 million raise in October 2025.
Where FleetWorks stands out
The sell is the phone assistant. Sitting on hold and playing voicemail tag with brokers is a real tax on a driver's day, and FleetWorks' whole model is to eat that for you and hand back offers.
A few things back it up:
One truck is fine. Their FAQ answers "I only have one truck. Can I use FleetWorks?" with a yes. FleetWorks say they work with carriers from one truck to 5,000.
You can sign up yourself on their website, including a path for operators who don't have an MC number yet.
You don't have to change systems. They say they work with carriers running on Gmail, Google Sheets, or a full TMS.
Human oversight exists. CEO Paul Singer has said the AI "takes autonomous actions, but they're all reviewable."
Where FleetWorks may not be the best fit
There are real gaps in what FleetWorks publishes, and we're not going to guess our way around them.
No public pricing. There's no pricing page. For brokers, they say they charge based on the number of AI agents and load volume. What a carrier pays isn't published anywhere we could find.
No published market rate or profitability tools. If you want lane benchmarks and take-home math to check an offer against, that isn't part of what they document.
The offers depend on their broker network. FleetWorks started on the broker side, and much of the company's public track record is brokerage customers. Ask how many offers you'd realistically see in your lanes.
If you're a one-truck operation, those are the three questions to ask on the call before anything else.
FleetWorks Pricing
Not published anywhere publicly. Contact FleetWorks for pricing. We're not going to estimate it.
Which AI Dispatcher Is Best for You?
If you want… | Consider |
|---|---|
Self-dispatch and want help finding, pricing, and pursuing freight | TruckSmarter Dispatch |
Already have dispatchers and load board subscriptions | Numeo |
Want AI plus broader TMS and fleet management | DispatchMVP |
Want brokers called and rates negotiated for you | FleetWorks |
Two caveats: Pricing and features change, so verify before you buy. And fleet size beats category. A 30-truck fleet and a one-truck operation both call themselves "carriers" but need completely different software.
What Should Owner Operators Look for in AI Dispatch Software?
There are five things to consider when evaluating an AI dispatching software:
Freight access. Where do the loads come from, and are you paying twice to see them?
True profitability analysis. Rate per mile isn't profit. You want fuel, deadhead, tolls, and estimated take-home.
Market intelligence. Is the lane paying $2.10 or $2.80 this week? Without that, you're negotiating blind.
Ability to take action. Finding a load is half the job. Can the tool actually reach the broker?
Cost and control. Flat fee or percentage? And who has final say on booking?
For the full evaluation criteria, read How to Choose AI Dispatch Software.
The Bottom Line
Different tools serve different operations, and anyone telling you one product wins for everybody is selling, not comparing. If you run a dispatch office with DAT seats already paid for, Numeo may fit how you work. If you need invoicing, IFTA, and ELD data in one place, DispatchMVP is built for that. If what's killing your day is time on hold with brokers, FleetWorks is built around that specific problem.
If you're an owner operator or small carrier who wants to find freight, compare profitability, check market rates, and get a broker on the phone without paying a percentage of every load, TruckSmarter Dispatch is built around that workflow. Don't take our word for it—try Dispatch free. No credit card or subscription necessary.
